Bangkok: Day 3 (Part 2)

As promised, the pictures from my tour. The trip to the floating market took 1 1/2 hours. O.O It's sooo long.
..We sat in a boat like this one and ride it until the floating market but not into the market itself..
..It was pretty scary as it rocked from right to left and I felt as if the boat was going to turn over at anytime..
..I couldn't be happier after I stepped on ground. The water stinks and it's dirty. It splashes along the ride. Eww. I know..
..The floating market..
..From another angle at the bridge..
..Souveniers..
..So many people selling so many different things but none were my cup of tea..
..A lady preparing kuey teow soup I think..
..Fruits! But it ain't hygienic..
..Spices which ain't that cheap..
..A cameraman who was filming the whole market..
..I spotted this! Do you know what those black dots are? They are FLIES..
..There were many tourists and quite a number took the sampan into the "heart" of the floating market..

I couldn't wait to get out of there. Not only was it hot but it wasn't exactly an enjoyable experience to me.
..Everyone had lunch at some sort of restaurant near the zoo. There was an elephant show but it's not paid for in the package..

After that, we went to the Rose Garden which has more elephants and they perform the same thing every hour or so. There were elephant rides too.
..This huge elephant suddenly came towards the crowd and they were trained to get tips from the tourists using its trunk..
..Somehow I had the feeling that animals aren't meant for shows but people find pleasure in seeing them..
..Next was the cultural show in a big hall..
..There were dances, drum playing etc..
..Besides martial arts using the swords, they also demonstrated the famous muay thai boxing..
..Then, there were more dances..

Our final destination was a gem factory of which a white gold bracelet costs RM40k and above. O.o So, obviously, from the whole trip, it was just sight seeing and getting cheap souvenirs.

If you ask me, I don't think the tour was worth it. But, it is a once in a lifetime experience. I know how it's like and I doubt I'll go for it again. Part of the reason is because while the tourists bring us to many places, they don't exactly pay for our tickets. There are many extra activities that can be done provided we pay it ourselves. It is as if they only bring us to a place and that's it. However, lucky for us, lunch was provided. The cultural show which didn't show much was apparently 500baht. =.=
