If you think that they are just medical and healthcare science students, well, they are not. Many students in IMU are talented. If they don't sing, they can dance and if they can't dance, they can play musical instruments pretty well. If they are neither what I mentioned, they are artistic which means they are creative in decorations and coming up with ideas. Otherwise, they are talented in sports be it running, basketball or futsal.
So, there was this cheerleading competition and Griffin (Orange House) came in first. Below is a video of their performance.
It is definitely a synchronised routine with enjoyable music. Their stunts were amazing as they managed to pull off difficult ones that are seldom done in IMU such as the torch scorpio to an arabesque (aka scorpio at extension level). I feel that this year, the teams are more adventurous in trying new stunts such as cradle twists and the 180 degrees turn to elevator.
Besides the fact that this team is synchronized, they have nice cheers with nice motions accompanying it. Hence, it does not look messy and it is something that everyone can do. Also, the couple dance was the highlight of the routine (I feel). Not only does it catch the attention of many but because many people in the team can do it, I feel that it brings out the meaning of cheerleading which is to work as a TEAM.
As for the jumps, although it was slightly messy in the beginning, the ones after that were pretty synchronised. Many can do a herkie! The basket toss was not bad. I would have preferred the ones done by Pegasus which I thought was exceptionally awesome. There was a flyer who if you observe closely, kept herself tight when 2 bases carried at different height which I think was good. Formations and ending positions were well planned. What can I say? They practiced the most on the blue mat.
Hence, it was a job really well done. The captain is a really good dancer and I heard that there is a girl from CHARMS who is in that team. Of course, there are high expectations for that team. =)
