End of a Busy week!

This week has been one hectic week but it's over already. Next week will be a new week and I hope I would be able to find the time to study. Yeap, it is time to think about it and perhaps add in a teaspoon of worry. I'll be updating real soon. I didn't quite have the time to blog mainly because I'm really tired by the time I get home.

Yesterday, I gave a tour around the campus to Form 3 students from East Malaysia (don't remember the state though). All together, there were 5 of us briefing the students individually and another student who was paired with the ambassador. Both of them are from Pharmacy. It was initially supposed to be an hour tour but due to some delay, the campus tour was cut down to 1/2 hour. Hence, I didn't manage to bring the students to the Oral Health Clinic and the Student Lounge.

I spent a lot of time with them in the Medical Museum. A few of them were eager to know what the models were for and what we learn. I have no intentions of nerdifying them but when they asked, I just had to explain about the cut sections of the human body as seen in MRI and the bones! :D

Update

The Past

Acoustic Night was awesome. I stayed until the end but I didn't watch all the performances because the dance room was getting really warm. I will be updating more about it soon.

The Future

M'sian Studies project day is just one day away and I suppose many people are busy too. I still haven't decided if I should go for the Halloween Night event on Friday because I don't know what to go as and my (primary) circle of friends aren't going. :/

The Present

Last day of PBL is today. It's going to be a long day for me because I will have to meet up with some friends, go for PBL (which I really hope would not be long) and attend ONLY 1 lecture! After that, I'm free for the rest of the day, I think. With about 4 hours of sleep, my gut feeling is telling me that I'll get through this day without dozing off. :D

MPH Book Fair in IMU! + Flavors of Malaysia

If you LOVE book fairs, then this is one you should give attention to. MPH is having a book fair in IMU! No kidding. They are offering discounts up to 50% and they do accept credit cards. The best part about it is that it is not only for IMU students BUT it is also open to the Public! The book fair starts from 24th October to the 1st of November, 10AM to 8PM.

I did not see the discount sign being put up when they first set up the things. I did see though, novels, children's books (a lot of these), educational toys/games for children of different ages as well as recipe books. Those were just glimpse and not all the books were arranged there yet. Hence, I think it is a good idea to go check it out when you are free! =)

If you're wondering when the best time to go is, I would say Thursday, 29th October from 11AM until 2PM. Why Thursday? Because... you would also be able to see students conducting their M'sian studies project in the atrium which means there will be performances, exhibitions and FOOD from the different states. That is why they call it 'Flavours of Malaysia'. Besides trying to attain the spirit of 1Malaysia, it is also a fundraising activity for the convocation magazine.

Ooh.. and if you don't know where IMU is located, it's at:

International Medical University (IMU)
126 Jalan 19/155B Bukit Jalil
57000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Quit-smoking Commercial

This is a video I came across while browsing through Facebook and I think this is one of the best 'Quit-smoking' commercial that I've seen. It has been awhile since I've watched the national television. One of the reasons why I think this is a good ad is because it relates to family mainly and family is important.

A friend and I had a chat the other day. He told me that his friends told him that smoking don't make them feel good. If that is so, why does a person continue smoking? I know friends who do and I know how some of them aren't exactly in good shape. :S

Updates (for the weekends)

I was supposed to go for Diwali Night last Friday but I couldn't make it because I was too tired. By the time I got home on that early evening, I just slept until 9.30pm.

I spent the weekends catching up with episodes I've missed especially Heroes Season 4. All thanks to Wee Kiat for passing them to me. :) Season 3 was not good but Season 4 seems nice. It's actually not that bad if you give it another chance.

Heroes is not the only series that has been developing. Grey's Anatomy Season 6 too! It is the Season Finale and from episode 5 onwards, there are new people due to the merge with another hospital. But, if you're going to watch Grey's Anatomy, you MUST watch Private Practice because it would be the third time where part of Grey's Anatomy story is continued in Private Practice Season 3.

Speaking of development, it is pretty slow in Ghost Whisperer, Medium and House. It's just not as exciting as the ones I've mentioned above.

So, that is how I've spent my weekend. =) Next week is going to be a busy week. I just found out that there will be a quiz session with a Professor from Glasgow which means no slacking and I have to study for it. Unfortunately, I don't quite have the time yet.

Monday: Patho, PBL 2 + 1 (haven't done anything), Meeting up with Nirmal, Lecture, Quiz
Tuesday: I'm free here.... :) There's Acoustic Night!

Cheerleading: Griffin

If you think that they are just medical and healthcare science students, well, they are not. Many students in IMU are talented. If they don't sing, they can dance and if they can't dance, they can play musical instruments pretty well. If they are neither what I mentioned, they are artistic which means they are creative in decorations and coming up with ideas. Otherwise, they are talented in sports be it running, basketball or futsal.

So, there was this cheerleading competition and Griffin (Orange House) came in first. Below is a video of their performance.

It is definitely a synchronised routine with enjoyable music. Their stunts were amazing as they managed to pull off difficult ones that are seldom done in IMU such as the torch scorpio to an arabesque (aka scorpio at extension level). I feel that this year, the teams are more adventurous in trying new stunts such as cradle twists and the 180 degrees turn to elevator.

Besides the fact that this team is synchronized, they have nice cheers with nice motions accompanying it. Hence, it does not look messy and it is something that everyone can do. Also, the couple dance was the highlight of the routine (I feel). Not only does it catch the attention of many but because many people in the team can do it, I feel that it brings out the meaning of cheerleading which is to work as a TEAM.

As for the jumps, although it was slightly messy in the beginning, the ones after that were pretty synchronised. Many can do a herkie! The basket toss was not bad. I would have preferred the ones done by Pegasus which I thought was exceptionally awesome. There was a flyer who if you observe closely, kept herself tight when 2 bases carried at different height which I think was good. Formations and ending positions were well planned. What can I say? They practiced the most on the blue mat.

Hence, it was a job really well done. The captain is a really good dancer and I heard that there is a girl from CHARMS who is in that team. Of course, there are high expectations for that team. =)

Movie: Cloudy, with a chance of meatballs!

Warning: The following content may contain images that are spoilers.

I finally understood what the title meant. Just like the movie "Horton Hears A Who", you have to watch this movie to understand what the title means. I think it was a good movie. The adventure kept on coming and troubles arise one after another. There was not a moment when I was bored.
This is my laptop wallpaper. For now, it is until something else turns up I suppose. I was supposed to have dinner before the movie but I ended up with a cup of Iced Lemon Tea and after the movie, a Carl's Junior burger.

I feel that that if there are any important things brought up in this movie, it is to never give up on yourself even when others do not believe in you. Another thing is the love of a parent for their kids, or like in this movie, sons.

An ICE CREAM town! Unlimited ice cream! and the kids make snow angels and attacked the ice cream snowman. I've got to say that from the very beginning until the end, there is humour in nearly every 5 minutes.
Some parts are amazing like how they thought about the idea of making such things. Some parts catch me by surprise while some parts leave me feeling sad.
Towards the climax, as we all would know from the trailer, there's a big problem because the food just keeps on getting bigger. But what other things that happened to the food is for you to find out.

You might think that you would never want to watch this show because of the title. I know I didn't want to watch it because it wasn't by PIXAR animations but I went for it anyway. I did not regret it. =) One tip for those who are planning to watch it, just enjoy the show and let your imagination run free. Try not to rationalize whatever that is happening in the movie to reality, otherwise, you won't be able to fully enjoy the show.

Some people like the monkey, while some like the girl. I like the cameraman. =) He's hilarious. Anyway, I'll probably write about it again after awhile...By then, I suppose more people would have watched it. ^^

My friends and I give it a rating of 8.5/10. (That would be coming from 4 people.)

Pretty clouds

Okay, so some (or most) of you may think that there's nothing special about this post. I think otherwise. This is a picture taken a couple of days ago.

I was lying on my bed and looked out the window at that time and I saw how the clouds were arranged. It has been a REALLY REALLY long time since I saw clouds like this mainly because I'm always indoor and also because it has been raining a lot lately. Plus, pictures of clouds which I used to take are big clouds. These are smaller and if there's a lot, they look like sheeps. =) It was a nice weather.

I love clouds. ^^

IMU Cup 2009: Closing Ceremony

These are some pictures from IMU Cup 2009. That was my last IMU Cup event. I took part in volleyball, darts and long jump. I made new friends. I met people from other batches especially Nutrition and Dietitics. How is the integration thing coming along? Well, there are pros and cons. Meeting people is one thing. Getting them to participate so that medical students do not fully dominate and event is another. However, getting every one to attend training was something that everyone faced. Some had practices after 7pm till 10pm. Some have training sessions at different time of the day.

This is one of the trophies which belonged to Pegasus. Why the past tense? Well, if I'm not mistaken, it's back at the cupboard in the Student Lounge where it has always been. It's not something that can be taken home and kept by a person, that's why.

As you can see, there are 2 golds and 1 bronze. Only the bronze belongs to me. The other two belonged to 2 other friends. Yeap, as you can see, one of it is Chinese Chess where as the other is Volleyball.

One of the photographers for the night was Paige. The MC for that night was Ashwin. He was the only one MC-ing though. I believe there were 2 MCs last year.
Me and Lydia. =) She joined cheerleading this year. She's from Pegasus and they got 2nd place. More updates about cheerleading will come soon.
Me and Christine. She's a Latin dancer and she played Darts with me (Taurus house). As you can see, she's also a cheerleader. She learnt the whole routine in 1 week when one of the girls pulled out due to personal reasons.
Me and Sandip, my batchmate and also my dance partner back in Sem 2. He is also a cheerleader and the house captain for Draco. Guys are always one of the greatest assets in cheerleading because they do the heavy work.

Me and Joanne who is from Hydra. Her team got 2nd place in Darts. Last year, she played Mixed Doubles. This year, she played singles. Truly spectacular to see the improvements that everyone had in many sports events. But, not me. She has been supportive and enthusiastic since IMU Cup started. (That's what I feel.)
Introducing... Kyan. He's also my batchmate. Just like me, a Penang-ite. He's been a great friend and I feel that the support and encouragement I had from him was the most I've ever had despite the fact that we're from different houses. Otherwise, I would feel that there is a gap no matter who I talk to because the house system makes everyone supportive of their own house first, then their batchmate. For some people, it doesn't matter; and, that is one of the cons of the house system.
Last but not least, Taurus cheerleaders. They did an amazing job. It could have been better though. But, what I'm proud most about them is that despite the conflicts, they managed to hang on long enough until the competition is over. Majority of them got hurt during practices but yet, they could hang on. As mentioned, updates about cheerleading would be up soon in a separate post.

There are a lot more pictures but I'm not the type who would upload all of it on the blog. Now that this event is over, everyone has gone back to mugging for exams. Being in Sem 4 is awesome because there isn't a major exam but as I tell everyone, it is not a reason to slack because before you know it, Sem 5 is here and it would get pretty ugly with muscles, nerves and every other anatomy parts to memorize. =)

Enjoy! I will be putting up more vids here soon. =)

Lunch at Fusion Haven

Yesterday was a tiring day. It definitely was a long day with a class at 8am. It was just one hour though and I stayed back until about 11pm (+/-) because of the cheerleading competition as well as the closing ceremony of IMU Cup. First thing is first though, the lunch. I'm pretty sure there are many people posting up pictures and videos of the cheerleading event, not forgetting blog posts. So, I will blog about it later. Besides, I have no idea why my video converter is not working. It is going to take awhile. grr.

Well, we (Lydia, Arthur, Leon, Ben and I) want to eat Korean food at Sri Petaling but when we reached there, we found out that the restaurant has been replaced by another Korean restaurant which serves BBQ and shabu shabu in the evening only. So, we had to find some other place to eat and decided to go to Fusion Haven. I have been there once only. Yesterday was my second time and I like it. =)

I had Kimchi Sausage Omelette spaghetti which was really nice. I felt that it was different because there was a little bit of sweetness in it. *grins* Then, I shared a dessert with Lydia which was free for IMU students. I think for every 2 IMU Students, there is one free dessert and I absolutely LOVE it.

.That's me and Lydia with our food.
.Arthur, Leon and Benedict with their food/drink.
.Leon helped us take a picture.
.But the group wouldn't be complete without Leon. He showed us his skill which I thought was pretty cool since the picture turned out alright.hehe.

.Ooh, this was the dessert which I was talking about. They said that it's blueberry icecream at the bottom. I don't remember what it's called but it's nice because of the 2 elements: hot (actually, more like warm) and cold.

Joanne's Roses =)

It was a random day when a friend planned a random thing to do which was to give roses to her girl friends. I got a rose. But, I didn't bring it back home because I don't think it will survive that long. Hence, I left it in SRC along with the other roses which were given to the SRC members. =)

Guess which one is mine! It was really pretty the next day. But on the day after that, it started to wilt. Well, this is the best picture I have of the flower(s). Thanks Joanne!

Okay, well, my rose is on the left. I guess, I should have taken a better picture of it, but yeah...

Why does it look left out? I have no idea. I tried to put them together but I guess it did not work. It reminds me of me...

"Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" trailer

To watch or not to watch? That is the question...

Cheerleading competition is on Friday. Lunch date is on Friday. =) (Yeap, finally...! I sure do hope that Lydia and Arthur don't have any sudden classes or PBLs etc. No more delaying Jene... I sure do hope you can make it...)

Garhhh, gotta reach IMU by 7.20am. zzz

Busy Busy

It has been a loooong week. I've been busy with PBL and CSU and trying to keep up with studies. I know it's time to seriously study but I'm not in the mood yet. I've been lucky to get away with PBLs because it is always last minute work and in the end, it still turns out nicely. I'm just wondering how long my luck will last.

Creature said that I look like a guy because of my hair cut. What's worse is that because Semester 4 students are learning about the Reproductive System, Creature can't stop telling me how I'm not a girl but instead a guy. Well, that's Creature, alright. :P

Tomorrow will be my clinic visit. I'll need to get up by 6.30am. Oh gosh. It's going to be three days in a row where I wake up really early. I can't wait for the weekends! I feel like going out this Saturday because I think it's going to be the only weekend when I'm free.

Oh, I've been quite addicted to 2 dances from 'So You Think You Can Dance' which used Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis and Mad by Ne-Yo. There will be a Darts Competition soon. It's not a competition between houses but individuals. I'm wondering if I should take part because I don't think I'll have the time to practice. Creature said 'Go for it and just throw.' But, if I can't play well, it is sort of a waste of my time unless I'm confident with it already. hmm...

IMU Cup 2009: Track and Field

Last Wednesday was the track and field event. I took part in long jump. There was a tie for 3rd place with another girl from Hydra. Well, actually, she jumped a 3.55m first. But then, on my 5th attempt, I jumped a 3.55m. I know that it's not that far but I achieved the goal I've set which was between 3.5 - 4.0 m without training.

The furthest was 3.77m, by Min Ee. Then, Ka Mun. I got the third placing after a long discussion. =) It would be great if they could have given both me and the other girl the third placing because she deserves it too. But, some decisions were made. I believe she would be awesome next year.

.The stadium.

So, it was a pretty good day for my house. We collected a lot of silvers and bronze. It was very exciting as new people are competing this year. In some events, we see the best of each house competing with the best from other houses. Ultimately, the real challenge is to overcome the goal one has set for themselves.
That's Jia Wei's hands stained by the baton. Apparently, it was only his hands that were stained. =) He must have been holding on to it for quite awhile :P
.With Kyan.
.With Ka Mun who got 2nd in long jump with a record of 3.65m. =)
.With Chia Sin who kept on announcing "People, get off the long jump area!!!!!"
.With Asha and Wei Chin.
.With Jeremy.
.Before the run.
.Encouraging and supporting one another.
.Henna with the MAPCU's coach's kid.
.Loshana, Anushya and Yaw Shing.
.With my house friends.
.Me (photographer: Yaw Shing).
.Yaw Shing (photographer: me).
.Me carrying Roshnee. I carried Joanne and swinged her around too..
.The girls.
.Last but not least, Group 6 of M2/09 orientation.

Update

I lost in the darts competition again. It was a really close match but I couldn't check out although I was leading twice. I felt a little frustrated and a little sad because I knew that either the Male Doubles, Female Single, or Female Doubles had to have at least one win for the whole group to move on to the Semis. I felt bad because my team had Vinodhan who's really good and I would think that he is the best but he isn't able to play against the others.

Now that it's over, I don't have to worry about double check out and all. I'm just going to concentrate on other things. Everything takes practice, if you haven't had enough practice, just go and have fun. Well, that's what I'm planning to do on Wednesday for long jump anyway. :S

I will be a little busy in the coming week. I'm just trying to get through every day without regrets but I can't have too many things going on because I might just forget something. I suppose, I'll be able to post up some pictures as I go along because my brother is finally home WITH THE CAMERA!!! Wheee.....

Things to do:
PBL
Art Stuff

Darts Practice

I've been doing a little bit of practising for darts but I'm still at where I am. Gaik Ching said that I need 1/2 hour of warm before I'm consistent. Perhaps, she is right. I really hope that today's a good day for me. If Taurus wins this round, then, we're going to the Semis. If we don't, it would have been a good game. Perhaps, if there is a darts competition next time, I'll take part.

Thomas, Joanne and Gaik Ching trained with me yesterday. Why so extreme? Well, I did not play darts for more than a year and after the student lounge was relocated, the darts board weren't up as they couldn't find a place to put it. On top of that, the height was readjust and I did not have the time to practice. So, yeah.

Anyway, going for practice in a while. Hopefully, wearing purple makes a difference today. You know, like how people say that the colour you wear determines your mood sort of thing. It hasn't helped me the last two times, so, this is my third time. I was thinking of playing with my left hand today. hehe. I'm a right hander. Sounds fun to me. =)

Update

CSU was good yesterday. Although I wasn't able to remember much, I didn't get the difficult sections to take in history taking. I just had to take a Family and Social History. As for the darts game, really, don't ask. There's another one on Friday. I'm just hoping that I'll have better luck then.

Repro hasn't been easy for me. It seems like nothing is sticking in my head at all. I can't wait for this week to end because there is nothing going on on FRIDAY!!!! =) I can't wait to get the camera back from my bro too. I have a few things queued up. I still can't find the inspiration to start working on them. hmm...

Hopefully, today's a better day. *Just gotta think of sunflowers* *random*
